BRO carries snow clearance work on Zojila Pass to reconnect Sgr-Leh NH
Ganderbal, Dec 1: The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Sunday started the snow clearance work on the Zojila Pass along the Srinagar-Leh National Highway following the fresh spell of snowfall on Saturday evening.
An official said that the machinery was pressed into work for snow clearance on the Zojila Pass, which experienced about 3 to 4 inches of snow on Saturday.
The road was closed as a precautionary measure and the road clearance work was started early Sunday morning.
An official said that once the road is cleared, the traffic movement would be restored on the highway from Kargil's side.
The authorities have urged the drivers to take precautions while travelling on the road.
Meanwhile, tourist destination Sonamarg in Ganderbal district also received a spell of light snowfall which draped the picturesque resort in a white blanket besides a dip in the temperature.
The Drass area of Kargil also received snowfall of about 3 inches.
