Kangan, Sep 25: In a show of unwavering commitment to her duty to vote, a newly wed bride in far off village Shitkadi area of Kangan constituency turned to the polling station to exercise her mandate. Despite the festivities of her wedding ceremony at her home, the bride, with a sense of civic responsibility, made it a point to cast her vote on his special day, sending a powerful message about the importance of participating in the electoral process.

Attired in wedding dress, the bride cast her vote at the Shitkadi polling station in Kangan area of Ganderbal district.

The bride showed her ink marked finger mixed with henna' while coming out of the polling station. "One should not waste his vote", she said. "This is our duty to exercise our right to franchise and choose our representatives, so I'm here to cast my vote," she added. She was accompanied by her family members.

Notably , on the directions of the election commission of India the district administration Ganderbal had started an initiative under the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Programme (SVEEP) to educate voters about the importance of voting and their participation.

The assembly constituency Kangan went to polls on Wednesday in the second phase of the assembly elections.
