Bribery case: CBI arrests Social Security Officer ESIC Jammu

Jammu, Nov 17: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Social Security Officer in the office of Regional Director, Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Jammu, while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 9,000 from the complainant.

A CBI spokesperson said that the Bureau registered the case on Monday, November 17, 2025 based on a complaint that the wife of the complainant was running a private firm which became defunct.

“The firm has not done any business since its inception. However, ESIC, Regional Office, Jammu has been harassing by issuing Notices under Section 45 for non-deposit of contribution to ESIC. When the complainant met the Social Security Officer, he demanded an illegal gratification of Rs 10,000 from the complainant to close the proceedings,” the spokesperson said.

After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept Rs 9,000.

“CBI laid a trap on Monday, November 17, 2025, and apprehended the accused Satyendra Kumar red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 9,000 from the complainant. The search at the residential premises of the accused is underway. Investigation is continuing,” the spokesperson said.
