Bovine smuggling attempts foiled in Ramban
Ramban, June 13: Ramban Police foiled 10 bovine smuggling attempts, arrested 10 bovine smugglers, and rescued 165 animals being illegally transported to Kashmir on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on Thursday.
Ten vehicles involved in the transportation of animals were seized. Police sources said a police team led by SHO Batote intercepted a vehicle during checking nine animals were found laden inside the vehicle which was tied in cruelly and were being transported illegally. One person was arrested.
They said in another instance, the police team led by SHO Police Station Chanderkote intercepted four vehicles. During checking 77 animals were found laden inside four vehicles, which were tied in cruelly and were being transported illegally. Four persons were arrested.
In another instance, SHO, Ramban also intercepted four vehicles during checking 74 bovines were found laden inside the four vehicles which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally. Four persons were arrested.
Similarly a Police team led by SHO Police Station Banihal intercepted a vehicle while checking five animals were found laden inside the vehicle which was tied in a cruel manner. One person was arrested.
Police has registered case FIR No. 91/2024 registered at Police Station Batote, FIR Nos 91/92/ 93/ and 94/2024 at Police Station Chanderkote, FIR No. 141/ 142/ ,145/146/2024 at Police Station Ramban, FIR No.101 of 2024 registered at Police Station Banihal under relevant sections of law.
