Ramban, May 26:  Ramban Police arrested four persons involved in bovine smuggling at Batote and Banihal on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on Sunday.

Police sources said Ramban Police continuing its drive against the bovine smugglers under the supervision of SSP Ramban Anuj Kumar has foiled four bovine smuggling attempts and arrested four animal smugglers and rescued 52 animals.

They said a police team led by SHO, Police Station Batote Vikram Parihar intercepted a vehicle during checking 17 animals were found laden inside the vehicle, which were tied cruelly and were being transported illegally towards Kashmir. One person was arrested.

In another instance, a Police team led by SHO Police Station Banihal Ashiq Shah and in charge Police Post Jawahar Tunnel,PSI, Sweet Singh intercepted three vehicles, During checking 35 bovines were found laden inside the vehicles which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally towards Kashmir Valley. Three persons were arrested.

Police have registered a case FIR no, 75 of 2024 at Police Station Batote, and case FIR No.83/84/86 of 2024 were registered at Police Station Banihal, under the relevant Sections of law.

They said four vehicles involved in the commission of offence were seized
