BOSE notifies date sheet for class 10th, 12th annual exams for soft zones of J&K
Srinagar, Jan 15: Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Monday notified the date-sheet for annual (Regular 2024) examination of class 10th to 12th students enrolled in schools falling in soft zone areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the date-sheet, issued by the Director Academics JKBOSE, the examination of class 10th students in soft zone areas will commence from March 11 and will culminate on April 3.
Similarly, the examination of class 11th students in soft zone areas will commence from March 30 and will culminate on April 25 respectively.
Also, the examination of class 12th students will commence from March 6 and will culminate on March 28.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, Joint Secretary Examination, Lal Hussain said the date sheet has been issued for the advance information of the students so that they can prepare for annual examinations.
"The date sheet for hard zone areas will be notified later separately and the examination in these hard zone areas will start immediately after the culmination of the examination in soft zone areas," Hussain told Greater Kashmir.
"We have prepared the date sheet after considering all the aspects. We have kept a gap in papers of class 11th to avoid any clash with dates on eve of Eid. Even if there are any issues, a student friendly decision will be taken in this regard," he said.
The JK Board has already notified the soft and hard zone areas of Jammu and Kashmir division.
As per the BOSE records, around 444 schools, 309 in Jammu and 135 in Kashmir division fall in hard zones while seven zones of Kargil district and whole Ladakh area fall in hard zones.
In Kashmir division, 43 schools of Anantnag, Bandipora 19, Kupwara 32, Kulgam 28 and 13 schools in Budgam fall in hard zones.
In Jammu division 50 schools of Kishtwar, Reasi 47, Rajouri 7, Poonch 20, Doda 56, Ramban 64 and 65 schools of Udhampur fall in hard zones.
This year, the JKBOSE tagged "on-roll" students of 60 private academic institutions of Kashmir operating on proprietary land with "expired affiliations".
The decision was taken amid the stiff opposition from the private school proprietors against the shifting of students from private to government schools.
However, the JKBOSE justified its decision citing that all these schools failed to furnish their extension case file which prompted the JKBOSE to tag the students of these institutions with the nearby government schools.
As per the JK Board order, the affiliation of these private academic institutions of Kashmir Division expired in October 2021 and 2022, “coupled with the failure of the concerned managements to submit the requisite case files for further extension with necessary certificates, safety documents, in terms of standing rules and norms.”
Further, the "defaulter" schools, as per the order were "admonished" not to enroll any students in classes 9th, 10th 1th and 12th from the next academic session 2024-2025, without securing formal affiliation and recognition from the JK Board and School Education Department (SED).
"This order shall be subject to the outcome of writ petition(s), if any, pending before the competent Court(s) of law," the order reads.
This newspaper earlier carried a series of stories highlighting the issue of the schools established on state land which were denied the release of registration forms of the class 10th students.
