BOSE annual exams for class 10 to 12 likely from Feb 15, 2025
Srinagar, Dec 20: The annual examination of class 10th to 12th students is likely to commence in the third week of February 2025.
An official in the School Education Department (SED) said that the dates had been tentatively decided while there may be slight changes once the official date sheet for the annual examination is issued.
“As of now, we have planned to start the annual examination for classes 10th, 11th, and 12th from February 15, 2025. However, the final dates for holding the exams will be announced once the date sheet is notified by the J&K Board of School Education (BOSE),” the official said.
He said that the Minister for Education would likely convene a meeting with regard to the conduct of the annual exams.
The meeting would be attended by SED officials besides the concerned BOSE officials.
“The meeting is tentatively scheduled for Monday, December 23. All the modalities with regard to the exams will be discussed in the meeting,” the official said.
He said that the meeting would discuss if there would be any possibility to hold the examination in two shifts wherein the examination of one class would be held in the morning shift while for another class the exam would be held in the afternoon.
The official said that holding annual exams simultaneously for soft as well as hard zones would also be discussed in the meeting.
“The minister will seek feedback from the BOSE in this regard. We have to think about the students residing in areas like Gurez and Machill,” the official said
He said that the department had tentatively decided to finish the annual exams by March 15 so that the new classes (on a provisional admission basis) would be started from March 20, 2025.
“But we have to consider the weather conditions as well because there are apprehensions of postponement of exams if it snows during exam days. In that case, we are expecting to complete the annual exams by ending March,” he said.
The official said that all these aspects associated with the conduct of annual examinations by BOSE would be discussed in the meeting following which the official date sheet will be announced for the students.
“We have to ensure that the new classes for classes 11th and 12th commence from April so that we will be able to conduct annual exams as per the November session in the upcoming academic session,” the official said.
The J&K government ordered the restoration of the previous November session for schools across Kashmir and winter zones of the Jammu region up to the class 9th whose examinations were held from November to December 2024 for the session 2024-25.
For the students of classes 10th to 12th, the restoration of the academic session to the November-December session would be done from the academic session 2025-26.
