Book on Shiekh ul Alam (RA’s) poetry ‘Sahzanand’ released
Srinagar, Oct 11: A new book “Sehzanand” illustrating verses of Shiekh Ul Alam (RA) in Urdu and English was released at a function organised by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in coordination with literary organisation Kashmir Markaz Adab-w-Saqafat at Tagore Hall.
The book has been written by two writers Dr Gazanfar Ali and Inayat Gul, both hailing from Chrar-e-Sharief . The function was presided by the renowned scholar and former HOD of Kashmiri Department of Kashmir university Prof.Shafi Shouq. Prominent writers Prof Farooq Fayaz, Dr Rafiq Masoodi, Dr.Gh Nabi Haleem, Prof.Shaqat Altaf and Mufti Shafiq ul Rehman shared the presidium.
The book comprises explanation of the 106 verses of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-UD-Din Wali (RA) in Urdu and English languages with a view to disseminate the saint's message and philosophy about humanity, universal brotherhood and purification of soul , among the people not knowing KashmirI language. On this occasion two exhaustive and thought provoking papers on the book were presented by writers Mushtaq Mehram and Rubia Gul.
Prof. Shouq while delivering his presidential address urged the need for preserving Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage which was the hallmark of our composite ethos.
Prof. Mohammad Zaman Azurda, Prof Farooq Fayaz, Dr Rafiq Masoodi, Dr G.N Haleem and Dr. Prof. Shafqat Altaf also spoke on the occasion and highlighted various facets of the life and Rishi philosophy of Shiekh Ul Alam (RA). Dr Shabnam Rafiq delivered the welcome address on behalf o the jammu and kashmir and kashmir academy of art ,culture and languages.
