Srinagar, Sep 27: Another Reshi Nama, "Anmbare Shamama" comprising poetry by the revered Sufi saint Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Wali (RA), written by noted author, social activist, and journalist Ghulam Qadir Bedar, was released at an impressive literary function held at Ahata Waqar Chanapora—a center for daycare and recreation for senior citizens—on Thursday.

The book includes a translation of the ancient Noornama manuscript (1199 AH) by the notable litterateur and historian of his time, Baba Mohammad Kamal Chrari.

Veteran writer, scholar, and Sahitya Academy Convenor for the Kashmiri Advisory Board, Prof. Shad Ramzan, was the chief guest at the function, while the former head of the Markazi Noor, University of Kashmir, Prof. Bashar Bashir, was the guest of honor.

Famous religious preacher Molvi Ghulam Jeelani, chairman of Ahata Waqar, along with Ab Gani Parray, General Secretary, also shared the presidium.

Speaking on the occasion, Shad Ramzan lauded Gh Qadir Bedar's contributions to enriching and preserving Kashmiri literature and Sufi traditions through his extensive authorship of manuscripts on the lives of Sufi poets and their poetry. He stated that "Reshi Nama Ambar Shamama" is the latest edition in this vast literary treasure. He elaborated on the intricacies of Tasawwuf and emphasized the need to explore the linguistic grandeur of Sheikh Shukr.

He noted that Sheikh-ul-Alam introduced and propagated a 400-year-old Islamic Rishi philosophy in Jammu and Kashmir. Prof. Bashar Bashir, in his remarks, said that Gh Qadir Bedar, by bringing out the Reshi Nama "Anmbare Shamama," has fulfilled a significant need among research students. He emphasized that Bedar’s publications have immensely helped preserve the roots of Kashmiri traditions and Reshism.

Media Secretary Mushtaq Mehram, while presenting an overview of Gh Qadir Bedar’s publications, stated that his literary contributions enrich Kashmiri literature with the essence of Sufism, Rishiyat, and Shiekhyat. He also highlighted various international and national awards presented to Gh Qadir Bedar over time, including the Best Sufism author Bhabasahib Phalki Award, the Icon Award 2024 by International World Records, the Human Rights Nobel Award by the United Nations Global Human Rights Trust, and the 2012 Khilate Noor Award presented by Kashmir Markaz Adab-w-Saqafat, Charari Sharief.

Senior citizens of Ahata Waqar, led by its Chairman Ab Gani Parray, presented a memento to Gh Qadir Bedar as a mark of respect and recognition for his literary works. A large number of senior citizens, including Qazi Ab Rashid, former Jt. Dir. Sericulture, Hakeem Mohd Yaseen, Javed Ahmad, and Gh Hassan Shah, graced the occasion with their presence.
