Book on poetic reflections, personal narratives released
Ganderbal, Oct 20: “Naad Faryaad,” a book authored by the well-known female writer Bekas Mehtaab, was released on Saturday during a function held here.
The book, a collection of poetic reflections and personal narratives, has already sparked interest in literary circles for its unique blend of emotional depth and expression.
Bekas Mehtaab, an unsung literary voice for years, is a testament to the power of perseverance. Despite her age, she has crafted a work that resonates with the contemporary struggles and longings of Kashmiri society. Her writing, both poignant and powerful, offers a window into the unspoken emotions and thoughts of women, especially those who have lived through turbulent times.
Speaking at the book launch, Mehtaab expressed her joy at finally sharing her work with the world. "These are not just my stories," she said, "they are the collective voices of countless women who have lived in silence." The title Naad Faryaad, which translates to "Sound of Lament," captures the essence of unvoiced cries and unfulfilled dreams.
The event was attended by local literary figures, journalists, and community members. Many praised Mehtaab for her courage in penning such an authentic portrayal of life, particularly at her advanced age. The book is expected to resonate with readers not only in Kashmir but also across the wider literary community.
