Bollywood filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s movie 'Laila Majnu' to re-release in Kashmir next month

Srinagar, July 25: Due to the overwhelming response for the movie "Rockstar", famous Bollywood filmmaker Imtiaz Ali and his team is set to re-release the movie "Laila Majnu" in Kashmir next month. Laila Majnu, originally released in theatres on September 7, 2018 is set to be re-released on August 2 in Kashmir, the team has announced. With Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri in lead roles, Laila Majnu is a romantic drama.

Khawar Jamsheed who was the line producer of the film Laila Majnu told Greater Kashmir that Imtiaz Ali and his team has decided to re-release the movie in Kashmir on August 2 due to the overwhelming response for the movie "Rockstar", starring Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri, re-released in cinemas in May 2024.

Audiences flocked to the theaters in great numbers to watch the film once again and relive the magic. " Following the success of Rockstar, Laila Majnu will be re-released in Kashmir, '' Khawar said.

He said Bollywood films have started gaining popularity among audiences in Kashmir. Following the reopening of theatres in the Valley, Ranbir Kapoor's 'Rockstar,' which was filmed in Kashmir, has received tremendous love.

" Encouraged by 'Rockstar's' positive reception, 'Laila Majnu' is now being reintroduced to audiences in Kashmir. This Imtiaz Ali film was also shot in the valley. The film, known for its stunning visuals and heartfelt performances, is expected to resonate with the local audience," Khawar added. He said that most of the artists, actors and direction team involved in the movie were locals and many among them have got opportunities in the Bollywood.

Meanwhile the team, including filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, has expressed excitement over this announcement. The film was originally released in September 2018. Presented by Imtiaz Ali, it was directed by Sajid Ali and produced by Ekta Kapoor.

Imtiaz Ali by his frequent visits to Kashmir with and without films has made his Kashmir connection with people here and become one among the most popular filmmakers. Recently, the Instagram handle of Inox Srinagar made an announcement about the re-release of the 2018 film Laila Majnu.

The movie, which was shot in the picturesque locations of Kashmir, will be releasing once again on August 2. The announcement read, “#lailamajnu. Due to the overwhelming love and appreciation that #Rockstar received from movie buffs in the #Kashmir valley, we have decided to premiere Laila Majnu, which was also filmed in Kashmir, starting Friday, Aug 02. Advance Bookings will open soon.”

The cast and crew of Laila Majnu shared their excitement and happiness over the re-release on their Instagram Stories. Triptii Dimri said, “Superrr excited for this @avinashtiwary15 @imtiazaliofficial @preetyali #sajidali.”

Laila Majnu, the film about tragic romance, is directed by Sajid Ali. Presented by Imtiaz Ali, the film is produced by Ektaa R Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor, and Preety Ali. The movie has been appreciated for its story and performances over the years becoming quite popular on social media.
