Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan attacked during robbery attempt at Mumbai home, hospitalised

January 16, 2025, New Delhi: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his Bandra residence during the early hours of Thursday. The actor is currently undergoing treatment at Lilavati Hospital after sustaining injuries during an attempted burglary at his home.

According to a statement issued by Mumbai Police, as quoted by media, an unidentified intruder broke into the actor's residence at around 1:00 a.m. The intruder, armed with a knife, reportedly confronted a member of the household staff, who raised the alarm. Hearing the commotion, Khan intervened and was attacked during the altercation.

In a statement to Hindustan Times, the hospital's Chief Operating Officer Niraj Uttamani revealed that Khan was admitted between 3:00 and 3:30 a.m. with multiple injuries. "Saif Ali Khan has six injuries, two of which are deeper. One of the injuries is close to his spine. Neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain, and anesthetist Dr. Nisha Gandhi are treating him. We will determine the extent of damage post-surgery," Uttamani stated as reported by the newspaper.

A spokesperson from Khan's team confirmed the incident to the media, urging fans and the media to respect the ongoing investigation. "There was an attempted burglary at Mr. Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is undergoing surgery. We request everyone to remain patient as this is a police matter. Updates will be shared as available," the statement read.

Police officials have filed an FIR against the intruder at Bandra Police Station and have launched an investigation. Early reports suggest that the family, including Kareena Kapoor Khan and their two sons, Taimur and Jeh, were present at the house during the incident but remained unharmed.

Fans and colleagues from the Bollywood industry have expressed concern and sent their wishes for Khan’s speedy recovery. Social media platforms have been flooded with messages of support for the actor, while many have raised questions about the security arrangements at celebrity residences. Authorities are now reviewing CCTV footage and questioning witnesses as they work to identify and apprehend the intruder.
