He has been working as a day labourer to support his family. According to the Police, the family had been struggling, and Zahida had been battling deep depression for quite some time.

A senior Police officer said that the case has been registered at Police Station Nigeeen and confirmed that Zahida had frequent scuffles with her husband due to her mental health issues.

“Investigations have been taken up," the officer said.

The bodies were discovered near Duck Park in Habbak early Saturday morning.

The Police were immediately notified, and the bodies were retrieved from the lake around late afternoon.

Following the recovery, the Police handed over the bodies to Hussain after completing the necessary formalities.

When the incident took place, Hussain was somewhere working as a labourer.

“The trio had left Shalimar on Saturday morning and jumped into Dal Lake,” the officer said. “Once Hussain reached Shalimar, he tried to locate them but couldn’t find them and today morning their bodies were handed over to him.”

While the initial investigation points towards suicide, Police said that the exact cause of death will be ascertained after the autopsy reports are received.

“It seems to be a case of suicide, but we are awaiting the autopsy report to confirm the cause of death," the Police officer said.
