BMO Ukhral withholds salary of 3 doctors
Ramban, Nov 3: The Block Medical Officer (BMO) Ukhral has withheld the salaries of three doctors posted at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Khari and sought their explanation within two days over alleged unauthorized absence from duty.
As per an official communique issued by the BMO Ukhral vide order No BMO/Ukh/NHM/212-13, dated November 3, 2025, the concerned Medical Officers - Dr Waseem Raja, Dr Showkat Ahmed, and Dr Sameer Ahmed—have been directed to explain their position and report to duty immediately.
The action was initiated following a complaint received from local residents of Khari during a gathering at PHC Khari on Monday.
The locals had assembled there after a road traffic accident occurred on the Mangit road earlier during the day and alleged that the doctors were absent from their duties when the injured persons were brought to the hospital.
Taking serious note of the complaint, BMO Ukhral Dr Abdul Rehman issued the notice, directing the doctors to submit their explanations within two days positively. He further ordered that their salaries for the month of October 2025, would remain withheld pending clarification.
The incident sparked concern among locals over the functioning of health facilities in the hilly areas of Ramban district, with residents urging strict action to ensure round-the-clock availability of medical staff in government hospitals.
