Blood donation drive held in Mizoram as part of International Year of Cooperation

Aizawl, Jul 30: A special blood donation drive was organised today at the Registrar Cooperative Societies (RCS) Headquarters in Zarkawt, Aizawl, as part of the ongoing International Year of Cooperation (IYC) 2025 celebrations.

The event was led by Amit Sharma, Secretary to the Government of Mizoram for Cooperation and ICT Departments, alongside Cooperation Minister P.C. Vanlalruata.

The drive, held with support from the Civil Hospital team, witnessed participation from around 100 donors, with enthusiasm from young volunteers. It aimed to promote voluntary blood donation and raise awareness about its significance in saving lives. Secretary Amit Sharma appreciated the swift efforts of the RCS Office in organising the initiative and encouraged similar drives to be held in all districts of Mizoram, with active participation from Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies.

He also reflected on his own experience of leading such drives during his student days in J&K. Cooperation Minister Vanlalruata highlighted the cultural spirit of giving in Mizo society and noted that such initiatives could inspire similar efforts across the country. Doctors present at the event emphasised the safety of blood donation and the body’s quick recovery post-donation, underscoring the life-saving impact of such efforts.
