Blood donation camp organised at Kotranka college

Rajouri, Nov 28: The Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine of Government Medical College Rajouri organised a blood donation as well as awareness camp at Government Degree College Kotranka in Rajouri district.

Head of Department Blood Transfusion Medicine, Dr. Irm Yasmeen headed this camp in which awareness was spread among locals to make them aware about blood donation, baseless myths spread about it and how blood donated by donors can save the lives of people.

Volunteer donors on this occasion also donated blood which has been shifted to the blood bank of Associated Hospital of GMC Rajouri where it will be used in near future.

Blood transfusion team members included Dr. Qaiser Manzoor, Naveed Anjum, Mohd Javaid, Kirpal Singh and Sahil Kumar.

Addressing the awareness camp, HoD Blood Transfusion Medicine Department, Dr. Irm Yasmeen said that blood has no alternative and the life of a patient in need of blood can only be saved by transfusion of human blood.

The official appealed to people in the society to promote blood donation so as to overcome the shortage of blood in the blood bank of hospitals.
