Blaze in Surigam contained after Army intervention

Kupwara, Dec 2: The Chinar Corps said on Tuesday that its troops rushed to Surigam village in Kupwara after a major blaze, triggered by an electrical short circuit, engulfed several structures.

In a post on X, the Army said its teams, working jointly with the Fire and Emergency Services, launched a swift firefighting and rescue operation, preventing the flames from spreading and keeping civilians safe.

“Their prompt action shielded civilians from grave danger and averted damage to property,” the Chinar Corps wrote, reaffirming the Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives in Kashmir.
