Jammu, Sep 29: Union Minister and J&K Election in-charge, G Kishan Reddy Sunday reiterated that for the first time, the BJP would form a government on its own in Jammu and Kashmir.

“It is historic when Jammu will take the lead and decide the next government in J&K. The people of Jammu will have the power to decide their own destiny,” he said, while addressing a press conference here.

Accusing Congress, National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Reddy said that BJP gave Jammu its due rights and identity.

“These parties are responsible for terrorism and blood-shed in J&K. Terrorism was the biggest speed breaker obstructing development. Due to the Modi government’s “zero tolerance” policy, terror incidents have decreased by 98 percent and now Jammu and Kashmir is on the path of development and prosperity,” he said.

BJP’s Working President Sat Sharma, National Spokesperson R P Singh besides other senior leaders accompanied him in the presser. He stated that real development came to J&K only after the abrogation of Article 370.

Reddy appealed to the people of Jammu to vote for the BJP’s symbol, the “Lotus,” in the upcoming elections so that a majority BJP government could be formed to make Jammu and Kashmir a “developed and self-reliant state.”

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an atmosphere of security and peace was established in Jammu and Kashmir.

“To eliminate terrorism, stone-pelting and separatist politics, the Modi government has taken strict measures, leading to a wave of development in Jammu and Kashmir today. The instability in Jammu and Kashmir so far has been caused by parties like the Congress, National Conference, and PDP, which have betrayed the people for their own familial interests,” he said.

Reddy reiterated, “In the present environment in Jammu and Kashmir, the youth are excited about their future. Instead of picking up stones, children are now picking up laptops and books.” He said that Jammu and Kashmir was being developed as an economic power to compete with the Middle East and other states.

He also revealed that within the next two years, Jammu and Kashmir would meet all its electricity needs on its own, and by selling surplus power, it would achieve economic strength.

Reddy also said that the central government empowered financial authority at the Panchayat level in Jammu and Kashmir. “Now Panchayats are receiving direct financial aid from the Centre, promoting village-level development,” he said.

“BJP is the only party working for all regions and communities of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said and urged the people to vote for the BJP in the upcoming elections to continue the journey of development and peace in the state.
