Srinagar, Oct 31: Senior BJP leader and MLA Nagrota Devinder Singh Rana passed away in Delhi hospital this evening. He was unwell from past some time.

Rana, the founder of JamKash Vehicleades Pvt Ltd. had made headlines recently after winning the Nagrota Assembly seat with highest margin in history.

As a BJP candidate in Nagrota Assembly constituency, Rana was considered the wealthiest among all contestants in the Jammu division.

Prior to joining the BJP, he was affiliated with Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC).

Several political parties and leaders have expressed their grief over the demise of senior politician of Jammu & Kashmir.

Deputy chief minister J&K Surinder Choudhary expressed shock over sudden demise of BJP leader.

In a post on X, Choudhary said: "Shocked to hear about the sudden demise of Devender Rana ji. Senior leader of the BJP and my colleague in the Legislative Assembly. This news is especially disheartening on an auspicious day. My condolences are extended to his family and PMO @DrJitendraSingh  ji on the loss of his younger brother.Deepest condolences to his family & loved ones Om Shanti".

PDP president and former chief minister J&K Mehbooba Mufti expressed shock over sudden demise of MLA Nagrota.

"Shocked to hear about the sudden demise of Devinder Rana ji. Deepest condolences to his family & loved ones," she said.

J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief Tariq Hameed Karra saddened over demise of BJP leader. He expressed condolences to the bereaved family.

"I am deeply saddened over the demise of MLA Shri Devinder Singh Rana Ji. Heartfelt condolences to the family of Rana, my thoughts and prayers are with them at this time of grief. May his soul rest in eternal peace," Karra said.

J&K Peoples' Conference (JKPC) chairman Sajad Gani Lone expressed grief over the demise of BJP leader, and termed it "extreme sad news".

In his message, Lone said: "Extremely sad news coming in. Devinder Singh Rana is no more. It is hard to believe that a great human being, and an even greater friend is no more. He was so full life. My thoughts with the bereaved family at this terrible, irreplaceable loss. May they muster the courage and strength to bear this loss. May the departed soul rest in peace." he said.
