BJP, its proxies seek to change country's secular character: Dr Farooq Abdullah
Srinagar, Apr 29: National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that BJP and its proxies are trying to seek to change country's secular character.
According to a press release, he was addressing during NC’s election campaign in central Shalteng and Eidgah constituencies. The events were organised by senior party leaders Irfan Ahmad Shah and Mubarak Gul.
Party President Dr Farooq Abdullah, party Candidate from Srinagar Parliament Constituency Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi and District President Srinagar Peer Afaq Ahmad addressed the gatherings.
Dr Farooq Abdullah stated that National Conference has joined forces with the INDIA block to protect the diversity, unity and Constitution of the country.
Lamenting the lack of development in Srinagar, he said, "BJP's core ideology is that there should be no development in areas where Muslims are in majority. It is as simple as this. Why is Srinagar lagging behind development on all accounts. Despite being the nerve center of the kashmir region, the city is confronting a plethora of issues, and rising unemployment graph."
"The promises made by BJP in the run up for August, 2019 decisions are yet to see the light of the day. So much was said about Srinagar smart city. Is our city smart enough to cope up with torrential rains, and traffic mess? What progress has been made on solid waste management? Where are jobs for our youth? Why has there been no headway on health, educational and recreation fronts? Where is the development which is being talked about,” he asked.
