BJP indulging in theatrics: Dr Mehboob Beg

Srinagar, Sep 24: Former Parliamentarian and PDP General Secretary (Organisation), Dr. Mehboob Beg has castigated the BJP for indulging in theatrics and having failed to honour Maharaja Hari Singh in the manner that they should have.

In a statement Dr Beg remarked that the BJP does not fall short of politicising and mis-representing even those that “they want us to believe to be their heroes.

” “The theatrics around declaring a holiday on Maharaja Hari Singh's birth anniversary is nothing but a farce. The BJP must tell is why they diluted the State Subject Status that was so dear to the Maharaja. They must also tell us why they played around with the identity of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh - which was so important to the Maharaja,” he said. The PDP leader lambasted the BJP and sought answers on these counts.

“Let the BJP uphold the ideals and the importance of identity of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and honour the Maharaja in the way that they should. Declaring a holiday on his birth anniversary and murdering so many of the ideals that he held dear is not a tribute to the Maharaja,” Dr Beg said.
