BJP diverting attention from basic issues: Mehbooba Mufti
Anantnag, Apr 23: PDP President and Lok Sabha candiditae from Annatnag- Rajouri seat Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday criticised BJP for diverting attention from basic issues being faced by the people.
Talking to media persons, she alleged that BJP is not talking about inflation, rising unemployment and other issues but indulging into the politics of divisiveness.
Mehbooba said that the BJP government could not deposit the promised Rs 15 lakh in every bank account and failed to provide 20 crore employments.
"Now they are using communal politics to divert the peoples' attention from such issues," she said.
In response to a question regarding the BJP leader Mushtaq Bukhari's statement, asking Pahari speaking people to vote for PDP, Mehbooba said that PDP have always stood by the tribal population and helped them in their difficult times.
"Mufti sahab has worked a lot for them. He has constructed Mughal Road, built Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University and above all instilled confidence among them," she said.
Mehbooba said that the marginalised community has always been with her.
Earlier, addressing a workers' convention in Town Hall Annatnag, Mehbooba criticised the government for creating fear among people by arbitrarily detaining the youth. The PDP chief said that nobody could dare today to protest against such arbitrary arrests. She said that during her tenure she withdrew the FIRs from 20,OOO youth despite knowing that they would again attack her with stones.
Mehbooba criticised the National Conference for breaking the PAGD." Omar sahab said where is the PDP. I want tell you that PDP is in the hearts of people", she said. She that she was always in favour of unity. She appealed the people to vote for PDP.
