BJP deserves congratulations for win: NC vice president
Jammu, Dec 3: National Conference vice president and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Sunday stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party, given its victory in three states, particularly in Madhya Pradesh, certainly deserved congratulations while the Congress would need to retrospect (where it faltered).
Taking a dig at Congress, he also said that if this trend continued, none could save I.N.D.I.A. alliance in 2024.
He also refused to have an alliance with any party in J&K. “No, we will not go with anyone. We will fight on our own,” he said.
Omar was speaking to the media after addressing the NC zonal workers’ convention at Udhampur.
“In MP, it will be their (BJP’s) fifth term which is certainly an achievement. As far as Congress was concerned, we were hearing from them that they would retain Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh and wrest power in MP. They were confident about their win in Telangana. However, when the results are out, their only prediction about Telangana has proved correct,” Omar said.
“Now we have heard that the Congress president has called a meeting of alliance partners on December 6. It’s good that they have remembered them after three months. In any case, this is for them (Congress) to retrospect where they faltered. In MP, had they given 7-10 seats to Akhilesh, the skies would not have fallen. Probably it could have saved the alliance. Now what has happened, they still have not managed to win,” Omar mocked.
