BJP criticises Omar Abdullah led government for inaction
Jammu, Jan 15: BJP today criticised the Omar Abdullah government for inaction in mysterious child deaths in Rajouri.
Addressing a press conference BJP spokesperson Dr Tahir Choudhary expressed concern over the loss of 14 young lives due to an unidentified illness.
He lamented the government's apathy and failure to address the crisis. The BJP leader pointed out that critically ill children from Rajouri are being referred to Government Medical College Jammu but often succumb during transit. “The Omar Abdullah-led government has remained silent, with no concrete steps or on-ground visits by health officials to assess and resolve the situation,” he stated.
He also questioned the J&K Health Ministry’s lack of urgency, accusing them of issuing empty statements without taking action.
“A special team should have been sent to Rajouri by now to investigate the cause of these deaths. Instead, the government seems to be ignoring the plight of the affected families,” Dr Choudhary said.
Calling for immediate intervention, he appealed to the central government to deploy a team of experts to collect samples from villages, water sources, and local markets in Rajouri.
He also urged the Jammu and Kashmir Police to initiate an investigation to identify any potential foul play contributing to the outbreak.
Dr Choudhary said, “The Omar-led administration has failed to prioritise the health and safety of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Such negligence is unacceptable, and the government must take immediate responsibility to ensure this crisis is brought under control.”
The BJP leader assured that his party would continue to highlight the issue until concrete action is taken.
He urged the Chief Minister and the Health Ministry to treat this matter as an emergency to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
