Srinagar, Oct 7: In celebration of World Standards Day 2024, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO), launched a series of events under the theme “Shared Vision for a Better World.” Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 9—Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure—the initiative aims to highlight the role of standards in promoting sustainable growth and quality-driven development.

This year’s centerpiece is the "Manak Mahotsav," featuring a unique Bike Rally from Srinagar to the Siachen Base Camp. The rally is designed to raise awareness about the importance of standards and the work of BIS, taking the message through some of the world's most remote and rugged terrains.

Speaking about the event, Pramod Kumar Tiwari, Director General of BIS, said, “This journey underscores the importance of standards in promoting sustainable development. I extend my best wishes to the BIS Jammu & Kashmir Branch and the riders who embody resilience and innovation on this inspiring mission.”

Tilak Raj, Director and Head of BIS JKBO, highlighted the significance of the rally, stating, “Coordinating this historic ride to the heights of Siachen symbolizes resilience, endurance, and integrity—values deeply rooted in BIS standards. Our journey through these challenging terrains reflects our dedication to raising awareness about the critical role BIS plays in shaping a sustainable, safe, and quality-driven future for all.”
