Jammu, Jan 11: All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh Thursday stated that party’s senior leader Rahul Gandhi would lead the “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra” from Manipur on January 14 to raise the voice of people and their real issues.

While addressing a press conference at PCC headquarters here, Singh termed the “10 years of BJP regime as an era of great economic, social and political injustice in the country in which the rate of unemployment increased three times.” “During this period, the economic condition of the people remained at the lowest level; there was a manifold increase in atrocities on women, SC, ST, OBCs and minorities besides many assaults on democracy and the Constitution were also witnessed,” he alleged. , for which Shri Rahul Gandhi would lead the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Manipur on 14th January to raise the voice of people.

Flanked by senior PCC leaders including Raman Bhalla working president; Ravinder Sharma senior vice president and chief spokesperson; vice presidents T S Bajwa, ex-MP; Ved Mahajan ex-MLC and Vinod Sharma besides other senior leaders, AICC leader alleged that there had been severe assault on the economic, social and democratic rights of the people and the constitutional institutions in the country in 10 years of BJP regime.

“The record unemployment has frustrated the youth as the number of unemployed has increased to 4 crores in 2022 from one crore in 2012 and the unemployment rate is the highest in 45 years. The unprecedented price rise in petrol, diesel, LPG, CNG. flour, pulses, rice and other essential commodities, imposition of GST on them has reduced the domestic savings to the lowest of fifty years,” Singh further alleged.

He claimed that the condition of farmers was very bad. “There has been a 46.11 percent increase on atrocities on the Dalits and 48.15 percent increase on Adivasis post 2013 onwards as per NCRB data. The crime against women too had registered an increase as per official data,” AICC spokesperson added.

Singh said that there had been a severe fall in the manufacturing sector from 2014 onwards and it reached 13 percent at the lowest level in 2022 exposing the claims of ‘Make in India.’ Accusing the BJP government of being “pro-rich”, he said that 13 percent of richest persons of the country owned over 40 percent of the total wealth of the country while the poor owned 3 percent of the total wealth in the country.

He alleged that the Modi government had given clean chit to China which was a grave insult to soldiers killed and even after 18 rounds of talks, there had been no progress on the continued illegal occupation of China over 2000 sq kms of Indian territory. “Amidst claim of normalcy, our soldiers have been becoming targets of terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir,” Singh further alleged.

The AICC leader claimed that post 2014, 95 percent of ED and CBI investigations were targeted towards opposition leaders while opposition governments in Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Manipur were brought down through misuse of agencies. He alleged that the Election Commission had been made toothless as it would take cognizance only against opposition while violations by BJP and its leadership would be ignored.
