Jammu, Nov 3: Bhai-Dooj, a festival signifying eternal bond of love between sisters and brothers, was celebrated with fervour and festivity across Jammu region.
Sisters apply “Tilak” on the foreheads of their brothers and pray for their well-being while brothers reiterate their commitment to protect them and pledge to bolster bonds of trust and affection, amid exchange of sweets and gifts.

This festival, mainly celebrated by Hindu and Sikh communities, marks the culmination of 5-day Deepawali festivities, which begin with Dhanteras, followed by Chhoti Deepawali, Deepawali, which falls on Amavasya (new or no moon day), Goverdhan Puja and finally Bhai Dooj.
Inmates in Children shelter homes in Jammu too celebrated the festival with fervour.
