BGSBU civil engineering students visit BRO tunnel, bridge sites in Rajouri
Rajouri, 28 Sep: B-Tech civil engineering students of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University visited the 1.1-kilometre BG Tunnel and Manjakote Bridge construction sites, gaining hands-on exposure to modern infrastructure development and construction practices under the guidance of the Border Roads Organisation.
During the visit, students were provided detailed insights into practical aspects of civil engineering and modern infrastructure development.
At the Manjakote Bridge site, the students were briefed on the various stages of bridge construction, including foundation works, substructure and superstructure development and the procedures and methods involved in bridge launching.
At the Bhimbar Gali Tunnel site, the team explained the tunnel construction methodology, the sequence of tunnelling operations and the geological characteristics of the rocks encountered.
The students were also familiarised with the specialised machinery and equipment used during construction.
The visit provided the students with valuable exposure to real-world engineering practices and the challenges of infrastructure development in difficult terrain.
The field visit reflects a strong commitment of BRO in promoting practical learning and industry-academia collaboration for the engineers of tomorrow.
