BGSB Univ gets its Ist registrar from civil services side

Rajouri, Mar 14:  Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah (BGSB) Rajouri, lone higher education institute of Pir Panjal region, has got its first Registrar from civil services side.

Jammu and Kashmir Government ordered posting of 1999 batch JKAS officer Shahbaz Mirza as Registrar of university on deputation basis.

The post of Registrar in the institute was lying vacant from last more than three years and Controller of Examination in the institute was having addition charge of the post of Registrar.

Civil society in Rajouri has put forth the issue in recent past demanding for posting of a regular Registrar in this vital institution with several members had project demand for appointment of a registrar from civil services side after which Jammu and Kashmir LG office as well as Office of Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Government was looking into the matter.

The General Administration Department of Jammu and Kashmir Government issued transfer order vide office order number 824-JK(GAD) of 2024 under which Shahbaz Mirza, JKAS, Special Secretary to the Government Revenue Department has been posted as Registrar of BGSB University on deputation basis.

The order, which although was taken as a surprise by some quarters, has been welcomed by civil society members of Rajouri who said that posting of a civil services officer as Registrar in the institute was need of hour and was part of public aspirations.

The officer Shahbaz Mirza is a 1999 JKAS batch officer resident of Thanamandi tehsil of Rajouri district who was presently on Special Secretary rank and was posted in Revenue Department.
