During the meeting, President Shafi raised the issue of the upcoming widening of the Uri-Baramulla road, urging authorities to ensure the proper rehabilitation of affected shopkeepers.

“We demand that those impacted by the road widening should be rehabilitated fairly and adequately,” he said. Shafi further emphasised that the government should provide sufficient compensation to those whose businesses will be affected.

“Many shopkeepers have taken loans from banks to establish their businesses. If they are provided adequate compensation, it will help them repay their loans in a timely manner,” he said.

The meeting also brought up concerns about a wine shop in Lagama area that opened last year. Members of the association expressed alarm over its potential negative impact on the local community.

“We appeal to parents to monitor their children’s movement, and we urge the administration to address this issue swiftly,” the President said.

The association has called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and MLA Uri Dr Sajjad Shafi to take immediate action and resolve these matters.
