Beopar Mandal Uri felicitates JKRTC staff

Uri, Sep 12: Beopar Mandal Uri on Friday felicitated the driver and conductor of the newly launched Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) bus service between Srinagar to Uri and vice versa.

The felicitation ceremony was organised by Haji Mohammad Shafi, President of Beopar Mandal Uri, along with other members of the civil society.

“This bus service is a lifeline for daily commuters between Srinagar and Uri, especially patients, students, and employees,” Shafi said.

“The purpose of the felicitation was to encourage the staff to continue operating on this route and help make the service a success,” he added.

Manzoor Ahmad, a local social activist who strongly advocated for the launch of the service, said, “This was a long-pending demand of the local population, and we are grateful to the government and JKRTC department for finally making it a reality.”

According to officials, the bus will depart from Srinagar at 7:30 am and return from Uri at 3:15 pm.

The service was officially flagged off from the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) in Srinagar by MLA Uri Dr Sajjad Shafi, along with other government officials on Wednesday.
