Being judgmental over return of Business Rules pointless: Tariq Karra
Srinagar, May 6: JKPCC Chief Tariq Hameed Karra on Tuesday said it was unfair to make an assumption that Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha has rejected the cabinet sub-committee rules, adding that there is a strong point of view that the LG has only raised some queries about it.
“I don’t think it (Business Rules) has been rejected. There are contradictory reports regarding it. Some people say it has not been rejected and only some queries have been raised,” Karra said while talking to reporters. The Congress party will support the central government in any sort of action against the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack, he added.
“The mock drill is a step for preparedness. As far as the Congress party is concerned, we have passed a resolution that we will stand by the government for any sort of action,” he added. He said Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a message that the Congress party is with the government for any step it takes against the perpetrators.
Karra said the announcement on caste census was a welcome move. “There was a latest development regarding the announcement on caste census which received a nod from the cabinet. This is a result of the consistent efforts of Rahul Gandhi ji,” said Congress leader. He said the district presidents of Congress were briefed about the party’s stand on caste census. “In days to come we will hold a three-day workshop on caste census, the programme of which was shared with the district presidents,” Karra added. “We are glad that as a result of the consistent hardwork of Rahul Gandhi ji, the government has made the announcement regarding caste census,” he added. Karra said the meeting in Srinagar on Tuesday was a part of “Samidhan Bahchaw”. “We had called the district Presidents and reviewed the previous progress and way forward. We held a discussion on the same,” he said.
