BDO Assault Case: LG admin suspends DySP
Srinagar, Nov 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor’s administration on Friday placed DySP Sunil Singh under suspension.
According to an order, Sunil Singh—who was serving as the SDPO Gandhi Nagar, Jammu—has been suspended with immediate effect and attached with the Police Headquarters. The action has been taken under Rule 31(1) of the J&K Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules, 1956.
Officials said the suspension comes as a direct fallout of the recent incident in which the officer allegedly assaulted and abused a BDO performing official duties as nodal officer (transport incharge) during the by-election process while polling parties were being dispatched.
The order, issued with the approval of the Lieutenant Governor and signed by Principal Secretary Home, Chandraker Bharti, states that the DySP will remain under suspension pending further inquiry.
