Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway blocked due to mudslides

Ramban, Feb 28: The Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway (NH-244) was closed late Thursday evening due to mudslides at Ragi Nallah, between Batote and Doda.

According to official sources, heavy rains triggered mudslides and landslides at Ragi Nallah, leading to the closure of NH-244 for all types of vehicular movement.

Earlier on Thursday morning, the highway was also blocked at Phagumar, between Doda and Kishtwar, due to falling rocks and boulders from a hillock. Although the road was cleared, fresh mudslides later forced authorities to shut down the highway again.

Authorities are working to restore traffic movement as soon as possible.
