Batapora residents decry dilapidated roads

Srinagar, Mar 18: Residents of Batapora area of Hazratbal have expressed resentment against failure of authorities to undertake repairs of dilapidated roads in the locality.

The locals said that roads in the locality have been in a bad state for long.

“The roads have developed potholes following drainage failure. Despite passing of years, these roads haven’t been repaired. Concerned authorities are not paying heed to the issue. These roads are waterlogged most of the time due to drainage failure. Potholes are so huge that it gets difficult for commuters to move,” said Farooq Ahmad, a commuter.

The commuters said that the issue is also hampering the traffic movement, and pedestrians are also facing issues.

“Due to potholes, there is risk of accidents. One of the roads connects several areas with Hazratbal. Hundreds of vehicles pass from here daily and commuters face inconvenience due to potholes,” said a local

The locals and commuters appealed to the authorities to fix the road as well as the drainage issue without further delay.
