Bashir Veeri remembers ex-legislator Syed Ali Geelani as he reads out obituary references

Srinagar, Nov 05: National Conference legislator from south Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad Veeri, while reading out obituary references in the assembly, paid tribute to former legislator Syed Ali Geelani.

“…Speaker sahab, main Syed Ali Shah Geelani sahab ko kharaji aqeedat pesh karta houn woh iss aiwaaan ke muazaz member rahe hain (Mr Speaker, I pay tribute to Syed Ali Shah Geelani. He has been a respected member of the house).

Geelani was a member of the legislative assembly three times from the Sopore segment, having won in 1972, 1977 and 1987.

With the eruption of militancy in 1989, Geelani joined the separatist camp and boycotted the elections till his death in 2021.
