Basharat Bukhari expresses surprise over power crisis

Srinagar, Apr 26: Former Minister Syed Basharat Bukhari Friday expressed his dismay over the power crisis in Valley.

In a statement , he said that it was surprising to notice that instead of improving the power supply, the PDD department has failed to even maintain the existing norm. Bukhari stated that adding salt to wounds, the PDD department has come up with inflated bills to put consumers into more inconvenience.

“Instead of sticking to the power curtailment schedule, the PDD has increased the power tariff thus making it more astonishing,” he said. According to the former minister, the analogy of the increase in power tariff was akin to more less power supply and more increase in power tariff.

He urged the government to reconsider the increase in tariff and also address the owner outage issues.
