Barefoot March from Srinagar to Poonch launched to raise awareness on drug abuse

Srinagar, Aug 9: The Chairman of G R Beigh Memorial Foundation, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Beigh, on Saturday began a barefoot march from Srinagar to Surankote, Poonch, to highlight the growing menace of drug addiction, with the two-day campaign also featuring a free medical camp for local communities along the route.

As per a statement, the march, which will culminate in Surankote on August 10, will be accompanied by a free medical camp organised by the Foundation for the local community. The initiative is part of the Foundation’s continued commitment to combat drug abuse through advocacy, awareness, and direct community support.

“Drug abuse is silently destroying our youth and our future. This march is a call to every citizen to stand together against this evil and work for a healthier, drug-free society.”

The Foundation has appealed to the public to actively participate in both the march and the medical camp and to join hands in building a stronger, addiction-free community.
