Baramulla sees record participation in inter-zonal, zonal sports competitions
Baramulla, May 27: The sports scene in Baramulla is buzzing with energy as the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) continues its inter-zonal and zonal level competitions across the district, drawing massive participation from students.
On the second day of the inter-zonal district-level yoga competition for all age groups (AAG) girls, held at BHS Khawaja Bagh, a remarkable total of 94 girls from multiple zones showcased their strength and discipline. Among them, 47 girls participated in the U-14 category, 39 in U-17, and 8 in U-19, reflecting the growing interest and enthusiasm for yoga among young girls.
In parallel, YSS zone Kunzer conducted inter-school zonal level badminton competitions for U-14 and U-17 boys and girls at HSS Kunzer, witnessing active involvement of 70 students, 35 boys and 35 girls, in a spirited display of agility and sportsmanship.
YSS zone Nehalpora hosted a volleyball competition for U-17 boys at BMS Nehalpora, drawing 57 players from various government and private schools. Meanwhile, YSS zone Tangmarg organised a mega sporting event at Government Model Degree College Tangmarg featuring volleyball (130 participants), kho kho (44 participants), and kabaddi (60 participants) in the U-14 boys category.
Adding to the momentum, YSS zone Singpora Kalan held a mega inter-school zonal level event at HS Singpora Kalan for U-17 boys in volleyball, kho kho, and kabaddi, witnessing a combined participation of 172 students.
Notably, YSS zone Wagoora set a new benchmark in participation, kick-starting its zonal-level events at HSS Kreeri. In Tuesday’s U-14 boys competitions, an overwhelming 541 students participated, with 190 in Kho Kho, 162 in volleyball, and 189 in Kabaddi, making it one of the most vibrant sporting events of the season.
