Srinagar, Jan 11: Girl athletes from District Baramulla delivered spirited performances at the Khelo India Asmita Women’s Cycling League in Kurukshetra, Haryana, from 10th to 11th January 2026.

As per a J&K Sports Council statement, Ulfat Mushtaq, Mehak Mushtaq and Hoor-i-ein Lone showcased determination across demanding races, underlining the growing impact of Khelo India centres in nurturing female sporting talent across disciplines.

Ukfat Mushtaq secured 10th place in the 30 km time trial and showed remarkable courage by finishing 111th in the 60 km mass start despite a crash, while Mehak Mushtaq achieved 12th place in the 30 km time trial and 12th place in the 60 km mass start. Special congratulations to Hoor-i-ein Lone for securing 16th place, adding further pride to the team.

This event marks a historic moment as it was the first-ever participation of the Jammu & Kashmir women’s cycling team in the Khelo India Asmita League, with all riders proudly representing District Baramulla. “Your determination, resilience, and fighting spirit have brought immense honor to the district and the entire region. Baramulla and J&K stand united in celebrating this achievement. Wishing all these talented riders continued success, strength, and many more milestones ahead. Keep shining, keep inspiring, and keep making history,” the statement read.
