Baramulla farmers benefit from informative sessions of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan
Baramulla, June 4: On the seventh day of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, three dedicated teams from ICAR-CITH and KVK Baramulla, in collaboration with relevant line departments, successfully conducted comprehensive farmer outreach programs across nine villages in Baramulla district, including Kaniloo, Hajibal, Lolipora, Wussan, Barzulla, Utikoo, Gulabdeji, and Dardpora.
During their outreach activities, Dr. Shoaib Nissar Kirmani, Scientist at ICAR-KVK Baramulla, addressed critical issues related to apple and cherry cultivation, with a particular focus on pest and disease management. Dr. Tahir, Associate Professor at SKUAST-Kashmir, provided valuable technical insights into scientific rice production, while Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Ganaie (AEO) briefed farmers on various governmental agricultural schemes.
In a parallel effort, the second team, led by Vishal Vihan, Scientist at ICAR-KVK Baramulla, engaged with farmers in Wussan, Barzulla, and Utikoo. His informative sessions emphasized awareness of government initiatives, including the High-Density Apple Plantation (HDP) under HADP, as well as disease and hail management in apple orchards, the importance of crop insurance, and the role of Custom Hiring Centres. Mr. G.P. Mehta (AEO) also shared insights on ongoing and forthcoming agricultural development initiatives.
The third team, led by Dr. Wasim Hassan Raja, Scientist and Head of KVK Baramulla, focused on addressing farmers' grievances and conducting field visits to resolve pressing issues.
