Bandipora Polytechnic college remains headless, functioning hit

Bandipora, May 30: The Government Polytechnic in north Kashmir's Bandipora district’s Watapora village is without a Principal, hitting its smooth functionality. Sources said, despite the government order, copy of which is with Greater Kashmir, issued on May 2, 2025, the Principal posted for the college has not joined yet, with reasons unknown to them.

They said the college being without the head for nearly a month has almost crippled administrative and academic activities, with many pending communiqués pending without execution or resolution. "With Eid approaching, faculty are without salary and if the Principal won't take charge, we won't be able to spend the festival as planned," one senior faculty member said.

With the college’s site being vulnerable due to a vast area being without a fence, the challenge to halt "illegal mining activities" via the premises is yet another challenge faculty has to bear without the head.

"Once there is an administrative head in place, the pressure on the faculty will be shifted so they could utilise the energy in teaching and training the students," persons privy to the matter said. Sources said besides fencing, which is the top most issue, they said there was an urgent attention required towards "development of lawns," insiders said. Moreover, Block C, an important component of the college infrastructure is incomplete since 2021, and macadamization of college road towards campus is much required. "These issues need immediate attention," said the sources. Persons privy to the matter said besides sending the head to the college, the administration needs to hurry the pace of pending works to provide lasting relief to students in particular and to the faculty.
