Ball Badminton Championship ends on high note at DGIS Bandipora
Bandipora, May 1: The 3rd District Bandipora Ball Badminton Championship wrapped up on a high note at Dubai Grand International School, drawing over 220 young players in a spirited display of athleticism, teamwork, and rising local talent.
As per a release issued, organised by the Bandipora Ball Badminton Association in collaboration with the J&K Ball Badminton Association, Dubai Grand International School, and the Department of Social Welfare Bandipora, the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan held under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council, the two-day tournament from April 29 to April 30, 2025, marked another milestone in the district’s growing sports culture.
The event was supported by Star Sports Academy Bandipora, J&K Police Bandipora, Indian Army 14 RR, Empire Pizza Café Bandipora, and Vintage Tent House Bandipora, under the esteemed banner of the J&K Sports Council.
At the concluding ceremony, several dignitaries graced the event with Latief Ahmad (DYSP), Headquarters Bandipora, as chief guest. Among the other guests were Abdul Gani Wani (DDC), Bankoot Bandipora, Parvaiz Ahmad, Principal, Dubai Grand International School and Kifayatullah Malik, National Presidential Awardee.
The guest of honour of the event was Ayaz Ahmad Bhat, In-charge, SK Stadium Bandipora.
Their presence added prestige to the event and served as a source of motivation for the young athletes.
The championship was led by Rasheed Gulzar, the organising secretary, whose meticulous planning and dedication were pivotal to the tournament's success. His efforts were widely appreciated by both players and officials. The event was officiated by a dedicated team including Mohd Saleem, Danish Bashir, Aaibro, Tobiya, Saniya, Adnan, Azam, and Junaid, along with several respected coaches and volunteers.
The tournament featured intense and competitive matches, with players exhibiting exceptional skill, strategy, and sportsmanship. Enthusiastic spectators were treated to thrilling rallies and dynamic performances, making the championship a true celebration of ball badminton.
The Bandipora Ball Badminton Association expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participating teams, officials, supporters, and partners for their invaluable contributions to the event’s success.
As ball badminton continues to gain popularity in Jammu & Kashmir, the association reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering a vibrant sports culture through regular tournaments and developmental initiatives.
