Srinagar, Dec 9: The third and final phase of the Inter-District UT Level Badminton Competition for boys and girls of all age groups for the year 2025–26 commenced on Tuesday at the Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, Wazir Bagh, Srinagar.

As per a YSS statement, a total of 14 districts from across the Union Territory are participating in this concluding phase, with 70 boys under the U-19 category competing in the event.

The three-week-long tournament is being organised by the Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS) J&K and is hosted by the District Youth Services & Sports Office, Srinagar. Participants are showcasing impressive talent, demonstrating exceptional sports skills and techniques in both singles and doubles events.

The tournament highlights the growing enthusiasm for badminton among young athletes in the region.

The competition is being held under the nationwide campaign of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, reinforcing the message of sports as a healthy and productive alternative for youth engagement.

So far, more than 450 shuttlers from across the UT have taken part in this multi-phase tournament, marking one of the largest participation figures in recent years.

The final phase is expected to witness intense matches as the top players compete for top honours in their respective categories.
