B.Ed students of CRC Srinagar await first-semester exams year after admission
Srinagar, Feb 1: Students enrolled in the B.Ed special education course at the Composite Regional Centre (CRC) Srinagar on Saturday complained that despite nearly two years, their first-year examination was yet to be conducted.
The students are enrolled with CRC and exams are conducted by the KU.
A group of students said that under official notification number 020-BOPEE of 2023 dated March 9 of 2023, applications were invited for the course.
"But we have been left in an administrative vacuum. Besides the inordinate delay in holding our exam, we have not even received any communication regarding the submission of examination forms or the release of date sheets," the aggrieved students said.
They said their original documents, submitted at the time of admission, have not been returned, further adding to their distress.
Students complained to Greater Kashmir that they enrolled in the course with the hope of securing a better future, but now feel abandoned.
"The authorities have wasted two precious years,” an aggrieved student said.
The students said in an ideal setting, they should have completed their two-year course by now but "unfortunately" their precious time was wasted for no fault of theirs. Another student said that it was not just about exams but their careers.
"We had plans to apply for jobs and further studies. But how can we move forward as our exams are not conducted on time," the student asked.
Meanwhile, an official said that the exam of these students is scheduled after obtaining consent from CRC, which however was not done yet.
Meanwhil,e the students said the delay is particularly agonizing for students from underprivileged backgrounds who had to make financial sacrifices to pursue the course.
“I borrowed money for my education with the hope of getting a job after completing the degree because I am passionate about disabilities. But now, I am stuck with no certainty about my future,” another distressed student said. The students urged the authorities to conduct their exams in February so that they could start their second year immediately after the culmination of exams and finish their courses without further delay.
Controller Examinations University of Kashmir, Dr. Majid Zamaan when contacted said the date sheet will be issued on Monday.
"We will give some preparation days to the students and conduct their exams within this month," he said.
