Ramban, Apr 14: National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah today alleged that Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad ditched Congress to become a puppet of BJP.

He also alleged that Azad also ditched NC President Dr Farooq Abdullah, who had helped him so many times in his political career. Omar was addressing a public gathering at Khari . He also held road shows at Banihal, Khari and Ramban. The NC leader is campaigning for Congress candidate Choudhary Lal Singh in Udhampur constituency.

“Azad sahib became disloyal to Farooq sahib and NC who had helped him in becoming the Rajya Sabha member twice. He ditched Congress and formed a new party, which has become a puppet of BJP,” Omar said.

He added that Congress had given very important positions and ministries to Azad.” Azad sahib and his party are clandestinely helping the BJP in Lok Sabha polls,” NC leader said.

“ Now Azad sahib is fearing to contest against the NC candidate, Mian Altaf Ahmad in Anantnag-Rajouri constituency even as he had earlier announced to contest from there,” Omar said.

He appealed to people to vote for Congress candidate Lal Singh to defeat BJP leader Dr Jitendrs Singh, who according to him has ignored Udhampur-Doda constituency during the past 10 years.

Meanwhile, a NC press release said, “The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah today led a massive Road show in Chenab region, addressing public rallies at Khari, Ramban, Batote, Jathi (Assar), Doda. Among others party leaders Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, Khalid Najeeb Suharwardhy, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, Sajjad Shaheen, Dr Chaman Lal Bhaghat, DDC members Dr Shamshad Shan, Syed Hashmi and other local unit functionaries accompanied him on the campaign trail.”

The press release added that thousands of party workers and supporters turned up for the roadshow braving cold and inclement weather.
