Srinagar, Feb 5: As per the directions issued by High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir Legal Service Authority, District Legal Services Authority Anantnag organised a special awareness programme on mediation under the theme “Mediation for the Nation 2.0” on Thursday at District Court Complex Anantnag, to promote awareness on Mediation as an effective mode of dispute resolution.

Tahir Khurshid Raina, Principal District And Sessions Judge Anantnag (Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Anantnag) and other Judicial Officers of the District Court Anantnag, laid emphasis  on  mediation.

Mediation saves the time and is flexible in nature. Keeping the pendency of cases into consideration, mediation can play an effective role in disposal of cases. All the trained mediators were directed to give their best to make mediation process an effective for disposal of cases, as per a press release. All the judicial officers of District Anantnag were directed to identify and refer maximum number of cases for mediation and actively participate and coordinate to make this campaign  successful.

“The 90 day Mediation Drive is the justice at the door step. Mediation not only saves time and resources but also preserves relationships” said Ld. Principal District Judge. He also appealed to the lawyers, litigants and general public to come forward and take advantage of this initiative. He also highlighted how disputes, especially matrimonial matters, MACT and recovery suits can be resolved effectively through mediation.   Direction was given to staff members and legal aid functionaries to actively reach-out and extend support to such litigants in mediation process. The programme was attended by all the judicial officers, legal aid defense counsels, the Learned Advocates, PLVs and general public”.

“In a significant step towards reducing backlog of the cases and promoting amicable dispute resolution, District Legal Services Authority Anantnag under the leadership of Hon’ble Chairman Tahir Khurshid Raina held a comprehensive awareness programme on mediation which aims to settle pending cases through mediation process,” said the press release.  The vote of thanks was presented by Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Anantnag Mir Sayeem Qayoom.
