Awareness programme held on TB
Srinagar, Sep 27: Under the aegis of the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, an awareness programme on TBMuktBharat Abhiyan was organised by the State Tuberculosis Cell, Kashmir, Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, in collaboration with the Government College of Education (IASE), M A Road, Srinagar.
The programme aimed at sensitising the participants about tuberculosis, its prevention, eradication measures, and the collective role of society in achieving the vision of a TB-free India by 2025.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof Seema Naz, Principal, GCOE, who formally welcomed the distinguished guests and participants. In her address, she highlighted how India has witnessed a decline in TB cases over the years, underlined the paradigm shift in the fight against TB, and emphasised the importance of sustained awareness.
Dr Basra Mir, State Tuberculosis Officer, Kashmir, spoke about the initiatives taken by the Government of India to eliminate TB, with a special focus on vulnerable sections of society, particularly women. She highlighted the need for women to prioritise their health and seek medical attention promptly if they experience any symptoms of TB or other health issues.
Director of Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Jahangir Bakhshi, in his keynote address, underlined the pivotal role of youth in realising the dream of a TB-free India.
He stressed the need to strengthen the social fabric of society to eliminate the stigma attached to tuberculosis.
Medical Officer, Dr Khalid, through his detailed presentation, discussed the vision, goals, and key strategies of TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
He also elaborated on the Swast Nari Sashakt Parivar Campaign and its significance in empowering women's health.
A documentary on Anti-Stigma TB was screened, which further reinforced the importance of collective responsibility and compassion in eradicating TB.
Then, a pledge on TB Free India was administered to all participants in physical mode as well as digital mode.
State ACSM Officer, NTEP Kashmir, Naveed Zargar, deliberated upon the Ni-Kshay Mitra Initiative, highlighting its impact and community engagement strategies.
Towards the conclusion of the program, Celebrity Videos of Rajkumaar Rao and Manisha Chillar were screened with an aim to sensitise participants about TB.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Convener, Health Club, GCOE, Prof Mansoor Ahmed Lone, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, organisers, and participants.
