Awareness-cum-interaction camp on labour laws, welfare schemes held in Kupwara
Kupwara, Nov 13: Assistant Labour Commissioner Kupwara, in collaboration with the Block Development Office Ramhall organised an Awareness-cum-Interaction Camp at Block Headquarters Ramhall.
The programme aimed to raise awareness among workers about their rights and entitlements under various labour laws and social security schemes (SSS), including the Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) Act, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PMSYM), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
During the event, cheques amounting to Rs 1.21 lakh were distributed among beneficiaries as educational assistance, while an additional Rs 40,000 was disbursed on account of funeral assistance under the BOCW welfare scheme. These measures were aimed at supporting registered workers and their families under the ongoing welfare initiatives of the Labour Department.
The BDO Ramhall also issued over 100 employment certificates on the spot, furthering the vision of governance at the doorstep and prompt public service delivery.
An extensive interactive session was also conducted, during which participants were briefed about the benefits and eligibility criteria of various schemes.
