Awareness camp on new labour codes, social security schemes held in Ramban
Ramban, Jan 9:The Labour Department, Ramban, organised a mega awareness camp at the Maitra Conference Hall to familiarise workers with the new labour codes and social security schemes.
The programme, held under the supervision of Assistant Labour Commissioner Amit Kumar, was attended by more than 150 workers, including GREF personnel, contract labourers, construction workers and those from the unorganised sector.
The camp focused on creating awareness about the four new labour codes and the social security benefits available to workers. Addressing the gathering, the Assistant Labour Commissioner explained the key provisions of the Code on Wages, 2019; the Industrial Relations Code, 2020; the Code on Social Security, 2020; and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020. He said the codes consolidate 29 central labour laws with the objective of improving ease of living for workers while ensuring ease of doing business for employers. The Prime Minister Shram Yogi Maandhan pension scheme was also explained in detail.
Officials from J&K Bank briefed participants about insurance & pension schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana & Atal Pension Yojana. The District Employment Officer informed the gathering about welfare schemes being implemented in the district under the J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
